A septic installation is a significant undertaking that requires extensive planning, preparation, and careful execution. Whether you’re installing a brand-new system or replacing an old one, having a clear picture of what the process is like can help alleviate concerns and ensure a smooth installation. Let’s take a look at what a septic installation looks like and what you can expect during the service.

What to Expect During Your Septic Installation

  • Assessment & Permitting – A septic installation starts with a thorough site assessment, so our team can get a clear picture of factors such as the topography and soil conditions. This information helps us determine the best location for the tank and drain field. During this stage, we also check local regulations and work to acquire the necessary permits.
  • Excavation & Site Preparation – Once all of the paperwork has been secured, the excavation process can begin. We use heavy machinery to dig out the site for the tank and the drain field according to the approved plans. The size and depth of the trenches will depend on the size of the tank and the soil composition.
  • Septic Tank Installation – The tank is one of the most crucial parts of the septic system and is where the wastewater from your home will collect, and the solids and liquids will separate out.  Septic tanks are typically made from fiberglass, plastic, or concrete and must be placed and leveled with extreme care to ensure they function properly.
  • Connecting Plumbing – Once the tank is in place, we will connect it to the various plumbing systems in your home. This will include redirecting wastewater from appliances like toilets, sinks, showers, dishwashers, and washing machines to flow into the tank. We seal and align everything to prevent leaks and ensure efficient flow.
  • Drain Field Construction – Also called the leach field, this is where the treated wastewater gets redistributed into the soil for further treatment and purification. The drain field consists of perforated pipes laid in gravel-filled trenches, which allow the water to seep into the soil, where natural processes will break down harmful bacteria and chemicals.
  • Final Inspections & Testing – After the tank and drain field have been installed, we rigorously test and inspect it to ensure everything is functioning properly. This testing may include checking for leaks, measuring soil absorption, and verifying that the plumbing connections are secure.
