There are four big red flags indicating that your home needs a septic inspection. Keep an eye (and nose) out for them, and if you detect any, call our professionals right away.

  1. If your system hasn’t been inspected or pumped in over 5 years. Even if your system appears to be working well, this may still be a red flag. There could well be all kinds of problems such as backups and leaks in the tank that you don’t even notice. It’s very important for the health of your family, your land and your septic system to have it inspected and pumped every 2 to 5 years.
  2. Soggy or wet areas around the drain field. This happens often when the drain field is clogged by roots, or the biomat has accumulated, causing a backup of waste and sludge. The waste cannot move through the soil as it should. If you let this happen, you are creating an environmental hazard. Call our septic inspection company to check it out.
  3. Backed-up or slow-running toilets. If your toilets are flooding your home or they are not flushing, you’ve definitely got a problem. This could indicate an overflowing tank or clogged drains, or the drain field is malfunctioning.
  4. Foul odors inside and/or outside your home.
